Aaron Barrett was born with a drumstick in his hand,
causing him to become trapped in his mother's birth
canal during labor. This experience would later
exacerbate his development of "Drummer's Syndrome"
-- a condition which inhibits normal growth of the
brain and stunts basic psychological development.
His innate talent for rhythm and percussion though
is light years ahead of the average mortal and his
grasp of 70s and 80s rock is the solid core of Godz
of Rock. For without rhythm, we are all but apes.
Bill Buck was born on Olympus and raised by the
demons. He began sneaking away to learn the guitar
at age 12, forming his first band Spellcaster. Rock
& roll and metal of the 70s and 80s became seared
in his muscle memory, enabling rapid retention of
rock riffs. He found a calling as bassist of the
Led Zeppelin tribute Night Flight, a San Francisco
band that gigged widely. After meeting vocalist
Mark and drummer Aaron, destiny summoned a voyage
that would challenge their musical virtuosity and
salute the music of the Godz. Godz of Rock was born.
A native of San Francisco's Outer Sunset, Mark Meritt
has played and sung in bands in New York, Oregon,
and California. His piercing vocals and wailing
guitar solos have been known to raise the spirits
of dead jackyls, and his John Lovitz-like good looks
have been largely ignored by the mainstream press
here and abroad. His main influences (musical and
otherwise) are Uriah Heep, Kiss, Merle Haggard,
and Dennison's Chili. He also likes soap, using
it with some regularity.
